2021 ISUZU MU-X Launched in Thailand. Should we expect it in India?

Isuzu's MU-X got its 2nd Gen launched worldwide in 2020. The recent one was in Thailand a few weeks ago. MU-X is a full-sized SUV based on Isuzu's Truck D-max.

Isuzu MU-X was launched in India back in 2017 against the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavor. The car never made its mark in the market but still, it was 'talk of the town. With the recent repercussion due to the BS 6 norms, Isuzu was forced to discontinue its MU-X SUV until it meets the modern norms. However, one can become sure of the launch of 2nd Gen MU-X with a BS-6 engine as per the company's official website.

Exterior:

The 2nd Gen MU-X has grown by 10mm in width, 35 mm in height, and 25mm in length. With these dimensions, if launched in India it will become the biggest SUV of its segment.

In terms of design, the 2021 MU-X gets a fresh exterior and a whole new interior. The car gets more sharp cut edges unlike the curvy lines running on its predecessor. At the front, it gets a Bi-LED projector headlamp with sharp DRLs. It gets a whole new slat grille with headlights flanked on either. At the back, it gets new LED taillamps which may remind you of the Fortuner's taillight.

Interior:

The interior and features of MU-X have leaped not one but two steps forward than its rivals. It seems to be the most luxurious cabin of its segment with a dual-tone brown and black theme setup. The MU-X gets new 9-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto also a 4.2-inch MID for the instrument cluster which displays a ton of information. There are now roof-mounted AC vents for the third row with dual-zone climate control. The interior does lack in one and a big way, missing sunroof.

Engine and Powerterrain:

MU-X buyers will have three wheel sizes to choose from, 20", 18" and 17"inch. Two diesel engines are going to power the new MU-X, a 3.0-liter, and a 1.9-litre engine producing 190hp and 150hp respectively. These engines will come with a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission setup. However, the Four-wheel drive will be available only on the 3.0-litre variant.

Safety:

Safety features include six airbags, ABS, EBD, traction control, hill assist, and HDC. Higher variants will offer a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, forward-collision warning system as well.
