MINI has launched the facelifted version of its hot hatch-the Countryman Cooper S and Countryman Cooper S JCW inspired variant at a starting price of Rs. 39.50 lakhs and Rs. 43.40 lakhs respectively (both prices ex-showroom). MINI also announced that the new Countryman will be assembled at BMW's facility in Chennai.
Exterior and Design
The MINI Countryman facelift comes with a revised front end which includes a new piano black radiator grille, tweaked bumpers with silver-finished skid plates and air intakes below the headlamps, and all-LED headlights. Now the Countryman comes with a contrasting roof along with roof rails which are practical enough to carry luggage.
At the back too, the bumpers are new but the skid plate is finished in black, unlike the silver-finished on the front. The new LED taillights feature the Union Jack design motif. The Cooper S variant runs on a 17-inch "Imprint Spoke Wheels" whereas the Cooper S JCW Inspired variant comes with a bespoke aerodynamic kit and 18-inch “Thrill Spoke Wheels”.
Interior, Features and Equipment
The interior of the Countryman has a ton of upgrades to offer starting from the 5.5-inch digital instrument cluster, a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system, leatherette Carbon Black upholstery, driver’s side puddle lamp, and wireless phone charger. It is also equipped with powered front seats with memory function for the driver’s seat.
On the other hand, the Cooper S JCW Inspired trim gets an 8-inch touchscreen, infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay, dual-zone climate control, leather Chester upholstery in Malt Brown or Satellite Grey, a JCW sports leather steering wheel, Harman Kardon speaker system and, stainless steel pedal covers.
Engine and Gearbox
Known for its sharp performance, the 2021 MINI Countryman Facelift will be available only in the petrol spec version. Powering it is the 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine making 192hp and 280Nm of torque. The turbocharged powerhouse is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox – DCT ‘Sport’ gearbox in the JCW Inspired. Mini claims a 0-100kmph in the nick of 7.5 seconds for the Countryman.
MINI Absolute Value pack
There's something called MINI Absolute Value Pack which it is offering with the new Countryman till the end of June 2021. Under this Value Pack, customers can own the Countryman for a period of between 3 to 4 years against EMI payments and avail of a comprehensive aftersales package that covers the costs of replacement of select wear and tear parts, assured buyback, and 20 per cent discounts on accessories.
