BMW has launched the all-new i4 for the U.S market, which will be available by the end of this year. BMW's India launch plans are still unknown at the moment, however, we have hope that they might bring it to India soon, as Mercedes and Jaguar have already started launching their EVs in the country. Among these two new models, the i4 M50 is the special one as it is the first fully electric performance model from BMW M GmbH.
In the design department, The i4 comes with the functionality and space of the Gran Coupe design combined with the power delivery of BMW’s latest 5th generation eDrive. Inside, there is a very slim and low instrument panel that has the latest version of the fully digital display grouping. There is also the BMW Curved Display information display behind the steering wheel. The 12.3-inch information display and 14.9-inch control display effectively merge into a single driver-focused unit.
The battery pack in the i4 comes with a fast-charging capacity of up to 200 kW when charged through a charging station. 10 minutes of charge will let the BMW i4 get a range of 145Km. The 11kW charging solution provided can fully charge the car in 8 hours. This battery capacity stands at 81.5kWh, while the estimated range is 483 kms for the i4 eDrive40 and 394 kms for the i4 M50.
The battery in the BMW i4 M50 powers two electric motors that together produce a combined output of 536 HP. While the single rear electric motor in the BMW i4 eDrive40 delivers 335 HP. The M50 also gets all-wheel drive, adaptive M suspension, specially designed anti-roll bars, variable sport steering, M Sport brakes, and 20-inch M light-alloy wheels.
