After waiting for very long, the Italian two-wheeler manufacturer has started the booking of Tuono 660 and RS 660 in India. Recently, Aprilia has also released a video showcasing the Tuono 660 on their official website. Aprilia has also confirmed that the bike will be imported from Europe as completely built-up units (CBU) which indeed will cost more premium than its regular price. Currently, Aprilia is taking orders from all over the country to estimate future sales and popularity of the 660 Twins.
RS 660
Talking about the motorcycle, the RS 660 is a fully-faired sports bike, ready to hit the track on any given day. The design silhouette of the motorcycle descends directly from Aprilia RSV4. The twin sharp LED headlights flanked with DRLs, beefy fairing, and the rear sharp tail of the motorcycle distinguishes it from other middleweight motorcycles.
The engine too is derived from RSV4. This 659cc, the parallel-twin engine has a 270-degree firing and churning out 100hp at 10,500rpm and 67Nm of peak torque at 8,500rpm.
Tuono 660
Tuono 660 on the other hand, is the naked version of the faired Italian beauty. Tuono 660 inherits its frame as well as the parallel-twin engine from the RS 660. Unlike the RS, Aprilia has given the Tuono 660 a shorter final drive gearing—intended to improve acceleration but reduces the power generation by 5hp. The minimal fairing on the Tuono puts it into the naked class category.
Aprilia has also dropped the clip-ons for a clamp-mounted high handlebar that makes the ergonomics more upright. All these changes result in the reduction of weight and an overall improvement in performance.
The RS660 and Tuono 660 both feature comprehensive electronic rider aids called the Aprilia Performance Ride Control (APRC). It is a six-axis IMU-based system that includes three-level cornering ABS, adjustable wheelie control, traction control, and engine brake control. They also get an up-down quick shifter and cruise control. The motorcycle has five ride modes – Commute, Dynamic, Individual, Challenge, and Time Attack. These modes can be accessed via the TFT dashboard.
The RS 660 is priced at INR 14 Lakhs (ex-showroom) whereas the Tuono 660 is more pocket friendly at Rs. 10Lakhs (ex-showroom)
