BMW 5-Series Facelift Launched In India From Rs 62.90 Lakh

BMW has launched the new 5 Series facelift sedan in India at a price starting from Rs. 62.90 lakh (ex-showroom). This luxury sedan will be available in three variants across diesel and petrol engine options.

The notable change in the exterior is the wider front grille, positioned lower than before. The new 5 series comes in a new single-frame design, with a central element in chrome, and has a reprofiled front bumper. There are new headlights with BMW’s Laserlight tech in the higher M Sport variants. Along with that, the headlights get quad-LED beams, L-shaped daytime running lights, and indicators that are located at the outer edges.

There are also more heavily structured tail-lights similar to the one in the latest 3 Series and a redesigned rear bumper. trapezoidal tailpipes come as standard, as well as the 18-inch alloys, though customers have the option to spec up to larger wheel sizes. The updated 5 Series is 27mm longer than the current model.

Looking Inside, the 5 Series facelift has a 12.3-inch touch display with the seventh-generation version of BMW’s iDrive infotainment system and support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. There is a new lower climate display, alongside revised materials and gloss black center console details.

The petrol variant gets synthetic leather upholstery, while the diesel trims get either richer ‘Dakota’ leather and ‘Nappa’ leather options.

Other key standard features include adaptive suspension, remote control parking, and even the ‘reversing assistant’ function, by which the 5 Series can automatically back up for up to 50 meters, which comes in handy in tight parking spaces.

While the top trims get exclusive features like matrix LED headlights with Laserlight tech, ambient lighting, four-zone climate control, electric adjustment with memory for the front seats, electric sunroof, head-up display, Harman Kardon sound system, 360-degree parking camera, front and rear parking sensors, and wireless smartphone charging.

The M Sport models get the M Sport package, which includes M leather steering, front grille detailing in gloss black, illuminated M door sills, M badges on the fenders, M Sport dark blue brake calipers, an M aerodynamics package, and gloss black detailing around the windows.

As for the safety features, The BMW 5 Series facelift carries six airbags, ABS with brake assist, cornering brake control, dynamic stability control, traction control, and ISOFIX child seat mounts.

As for what's under the hood, the BMW 5 Series facelift gets three engine options. Among these, one comes in a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder, turbocharged petrol unit that produces 252hp and 350Nm. Others are the 2.0-liter, four-cylinder diesel unit that makes 190hp and 400Nm, and a larger 3.0-liter, in-line six diesel unit that pushes out 265hp and 620Nm of torque. All engines come with an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox as standard.

In India, the new 5 Series will compete against the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Audi A6, Volvo S90, and the Jaguar XF. Variant wise pricing is listed below:
