German carmaker, BMW, has launched a new limited edition version for the X7 in India. This new limited-run CBU (Completely Built-up Unit) is called Dark Shadow and it will be restricted to only 500 units worldwide. This exclusive edition will only be available in the M Sport design scheme, this means the M50d is the only variant to get the Frozen Arctic Grey metallic paint scheme. This ultra-exclusive model isn’t cheap though, as it comes at a cost of INR 2.02 Crore (ex-showroom, India), which is more than double the price of a standard X7 in India.
In terms of design, this limited edition model gets a particularly high-quality and elaborate body finish, which is new for a BMW X model. The car gets an expressive paint finish in body columns, exterior mirror bases, a black chrome finish on the frame and the bars of the popular kidney grille. The bold impression of the SUV is also underlined by BMW’s Individual roof rail high gloss shadow line. The Dynamic SAV character is emphasized by aerodynamically optimized bodywork elements of the M Sport package as standard. The car also gets BMW’s Laserlight technology which makes a striking impression and distributes light perfectly. Another exclusive feature is the 22-inch M light-alloy wheels in V-spoke design, which gets a Jet-Black matt finish and fitted with mixed tyres.
Since the Dark Shadow edition is based on the BMW X7 M50d, it is powered by a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder diesel engine that produces 400 HP and a maximum torque of 760 Nm between 2,000 – 3,000 rpm. The car accelerates from 0 -100 km/hr in just 5.4 seconds, thanks to the 8-speed Steptronic sport automatic transmission and the M Sport differential which comes as standard on this model. The powerful sound of the M Sport exhaust system adds to the overall sporty nature of the car.
