Citroen C5 Aircross Launched! Prices Start From INR 29.90 Lakh

Today, French automobile manufacturer, Citroen, finally launched its first car in India. The C5 Aircross will now be leading from the front as the brand’s first offering in the country. Bookings for the C5 had already started online and at over 10 La Maison dealerships across the country. The C5 Aircross will set you back by Rs 29,90,000 (ex-showroom, India) and if you want to purchase it through an EMI, then the car will cost you Rs 49,999. Let’s have a look at some of the main highlights of Citroen’s latest offering:

Interior & Features

Firstly, the C5 will be available in 2 trims: Shine and Feel. Shine will be the top-end variant and will be available with all the modern features such as a massive panoramic sunroof, an on-board air quality system, progressive hydraulic cushions (super-smooth suspension), 3 independent adjustable rear seats, an electric tailgate and many more. The C5 is also packed with many assistive features like Smart Hill Descent Control, Terrain Selector (Snow, Mud, Damp, Grass, All-Terrain) and many more.

Talking about the interior, the seats are well-bolstered and use high-quality foam for better comfort. The double-laminated front windows and acoustic windshield glass keep road noise to a bare minimum, while the soft suspension and panoramic sunroof enhance the overall premium feel of the car. Also, the roomy 580-litre boot and intelligent storage spaces make the C5 one of the most practical cars in the mid-size SUV segment.

Exterior & Design

In terms of design, the C5 follows the typical Citroen design scheme and looks quite similar to the rest of the brand’s lineup of SUVs. The car will be available in a total of 7 combinations which includes 4 body colours and 3 dual-tone options. The sleek and stylish alloys also add to the overall look of the car.

The dimensions and exterior of the C5 are quite big and this translates into an abundance of space on the inside. The overall look of the car is definitely SUVish, thanks to the bold and upright stance at the front and the intimidating silhouette from the side. The unconventional front headlamps and grille are also perfectly incorporated in the front bumper, which makes the C5 one of the best-looking cars in the market.

Engine & Gearbox

All the variants of the Citroen C5 Aircross come equipped with only one engine and gearbox option: a turbocharged, 4-cylinder Diesel engine producing 177 PS at 3,750 RPM and 400 Nm of peak torque at 2,000 RPM paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters. This powertrain is expected to provide a mileage of about 16-18 kmpl.

The C5 Aircross will lock horns with the Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, MG Hector, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Tiguan and the Skoda Karoq in the mid-size SUV segment. However, its main rival will be the Jeep Compass, as the prices for the C5 Aircross start at INR 29,90,000 (ex-showroom, India) for the base (Feel) variant and go up to INR 31,90,000 (ex-showroom, India) for the top-end (Shine) variant.
