Cleveland CycleWerks packing its bags and moving back home

After the UM motorcycles tragedy, Cleveland CycleWerks is shutting down its operations in India after failing to understand the market in India.

The Cleveland CycleWekrs is a privately owned company based in Cleveland, Ohio of the United States of America founded in 2009, the company introduced its two motorcycles in India in the 2018 Auto Expo with the Ace and Misfit. According to our market structure in India, the two bikes were literally a miss fit for the Indian consumers with costing as high as other premium brands but features and offerings that were cheap and not up to the mark, the Indian two-wheeler market abandon the Cleveland CycleWerks with a huge disappointment.

Even after the introduction of new safety norms by the Indian government, The Cleveland CycleWerks didn’t bother to update its motorcycles and as time passed it shut down all the operations from Chennai and aswell the showrooms in Mumbai and Pune are either in the process of closing or have already closed down. The employees who were working with this international bike manufacture were forced to leave without any notice, where the company had plans to start as many as 100 dealerships with its early introduction, the only dealers from Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Pune are left stranded.

According to sources the Cleveland CycleWerks used Chinese auto parts to assemble the Ace & Misfit in India, Both the motorcycles ran on a 229cc air-cooled engine that produced 15.4bhp of power and 16Nm of torque where it borrowed its Engine from Taiwan and other manufacturers such as Honda. Surprisingly with not many features and lack of safety options both bikes were priced around INR 2.23 Lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) which was utterly disappointing for Indian buyers.

A similar tragedy with another motorcycle brand in India went around the UM motorcycles with its operations being shut down and the same case has been repeated with the Cleveland CycleWerks.
