Elon Musk Takes A Dig At Smartphone Companies Entering The 4-wheeler Market

Recently, many smartphone manufacturers have started developing vehicle prototypes to enter the 4-wheeler market. Seeing this, a Twitter user indirectly asked Elon Musk about his thoughts and views, to which the Tesla CEO had a brutally honest reply. Have a look at the tweet below:

The person who asked this question goes with the username of @utsavtechie. He is a YouTube creator and his tweet included the names of big brands like Apple, Sony, Huawei, Xiaomi and LG, who have all created some kind of prototypes or are trying to enter the EV market with the help of an existing automotive brand.

To this tweet, Elon Musk replied that "Prototypes are easy, production is hard." Meaning it’s easy to announce or even produce a prototype, but the real challenge comes while producing them and making them successful. Musk’s dig into this can also be considered as a challenge to these new players, as it is the first time tech giants are trying to compete to create something outside their comfort zone.

Sony Vision-S

Talking about these prototypes, Sony was the first among these tech brands to introduce its electric car, the Vision-S concept. The car was unveiled last year at the CES (Consumer Electronics Show)

Huawei Seres SF5

Although this car isn't completely built by Huawei, it is still the first vehicle to be sold at Huawei's stores in China. The SF5 is developed by Seres in partnership with Huawei technologies. Also, this car is not a proper EV, as it runs on a hybrid powertrain.

The rest of the companies are yet to unveil their prototypes but have assured us that they will do it in the near future. Should these smartphone manufacturing companies enter the vehicle market? What are your thoughts? Let us know your views in the comments section below!
