Hero MotoCorp has officially revealed that they will be entering the two-wheeler EV segment in 2022. For this, Hero will partner with Gogoro to bring electric scooters to India. This was recently confirmed by Niranjan Gupta, CFO of Hero MotoCorp. After Bajaj and TVS, it is now the turn for two-wheeler giants Hero Motor Corp to enter into the electric two-wheeler scooter category. The company will bring products that are developed by the R&D centres in Germany and Jaipur, alongside their project with Gogoro.
Niranjan Gupta has also confirmed that the upcoming electric two-wheeler from Hero will be primarily based on a fixed charging system. This is what most of the other electric two-wheelers available in India have also opted for. As for the partnership with Gogoro, it is said that this will be based on a battery swapping system.
With this partnership, Hero will be using the already proven technology of Gogoro and their learning in the space to implement in their upcoming EV's and thus gain an upper hand in the competition.
We could expect these scooters to arrive in early 2022. Unfortunately, we are still far away from knowing anything about this upcoming electric scooter from Hero. Recently, there were reports regarding a prototype with the name of ‘Proto 01’. The 'Proto 01' was similar to the Hero Maestro Edge. There was also the ‘Gogoro Viva’ that was trademarked in 2019 in India
