Honda Has Unveiled The New Civic Hatchback

Honda has revealed their all-new Honda Civic hatchback for Europe. The 11th generation of The Civic gets a lot of new refreshments in many aspects.

The first thing to notice is the Civic's styling, this car adopts the fastback-style sloping roofline, thus ditching the current model's prominent rear wing. It also features smaller hinges for a cleaner roofline. There is also the A-pillars hat are now two inches further back than the current-gen and has a wheelbase that’s 1.4-inch longer.

Similar to the recently unveiled HR-V SUV and the latest-gen Jazz, the new Honda Civic hatchback also will be a hybrid-only proposition that will use the same e: HEV petrol-electric set-up. This is a 1.5-liter Atkinson cycle petrol engine with a pair of electric motors, that produces 108hp in the Jazz and 129hp in the HR-V. The petrol engine will be used to generate power for the electric motor in hybrid mode.

The Civic is part of Honda's European portfolio to go hybrid-only, to electrify all mainstream passenger cars by the end of next year. The previous generation of Honda Civic was sold in India in sedan form but didn’t find a place in the Indian market and thus, Civic had to leave the market in just a little over a year.

Along with not attracting customers, Civic’s sale also got affected by the COVID-19 pandemic Just like a final nail to the coffin, Honda's Greater Noida plant was also closed where the Civic was assembled. So it's better to assume that we won’t be seeing Honda Civic Hatchback running in India.
