2020 Yaris is a premium hatchback

The 2020 Toyota Yaris gets a complete makeover, the redesigned Yaris is a premium hatchback which will be the fourth generation of the Yaris line-up.

The very much lovable European car, the Toyota Yaris is getting a complete makeover, Toyota has redesigned its Toyota Yaris which is a Sedan and completely transformed it into a sportier hatchback which will be its fourth generation from time. Keeping in mind its European consumers, Toyota has upgraded the car in such a way that it has improved its structural rigidity by using high tensile steel and also made the new car about 20 kilograms lighter. Built on a completely new platform from the derivative of the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) the new Yaris is the GB which is focused onto more compact and company’s stable cars.

The new Toyota Yaris will be powered by an inline 3 cylinder Dynamic force which will come with three options, the first one will run on a 1.0 liter petrol engine which will be mated with a 5 speed manual gearbox, the second engine will be a liter 6 speed manual or CVT and lastly the third will be hybrid 1.5 liters which will produce 80bhp at 140Nm an electric motor mater to a lithium-ion battery that claims to be the world’s most fuel-efficient hybrid vehicle. On the other end, Toyota is set to offer an E-four system that is an all-wheel electric drive system which will be the first time in a compact car like this. Physically, the car has significant changes with a 40mm reduction in its height but a 50mm wider and a 50 mm longer wheelbase; Despite these changes, Toyota promises overall better legroom, headroom and bigger spaces inside the new hatchback.

Yaris will also feature an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with apple car play and android auto which will be mounted in the driver’s eye view alongside the typical Toyota instrument cluster. Speaking of which this premium hatchback will be first in its segment to have a centralized airbag that is set in the middle of the driver and passenger.

It is highly unlikely that Toyota will bring this premium hatchback to the Indian market as we have already got the Yaris in India which costs around INR 8.65 Lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) which rivals with the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Hyundai Verna and the Honda City. India would love to have a premium hatchback from Toyota and if and only if comes it will compete with the Hyundai i20 and other premium hatchbacks in this segment.
