The 3rd Gen of India's top-selling hot hatch 'Maruti Suzuki Swift ' has finally got its midlife facelift. But, Maruti Suzuki also confirmed that it currently has no plans to bring Swift Sports into the Indian market. So exactly what does the Swift 2021 facelift has to offer?
Design
In terms of design, there isn't much of a change as such. The car retains its previous design and dynamics but it does incorporate a marginally tweaked front bumper, a new radiator mesh grille with a slant bar of chrome above the license plate, and some other odds and ends at the front. Maruti Suzuki has left the rear of the car untouched, it gets the same sets of LED DRLs and the bumper. There is no change in the wheels and tyre profile either. However, the car will run on new sets of all-black alloys.
Interiors
Now there are few upgrades inside the car as well. No doubt the car will be equipped with better upholstery. The instrument cluster is updated as well, it will offer a larger multi-information display replacing the old dot-matrix unit. There will be a new infotainment system that too will be equipped with Maruti’s SmartPlay Studio. other new upgrades include a steering-mounted cruise control button and a new dual-tone paint scheme with a contrasting sunroof, which will be available only for the higher trims.
Engine and Gearbox
If you think there are only cosmetic changes to the car then you are wrong. The new swift facelift will be powered by the new 90hp, 1.2-litre DualJet petrol engine mated to 5-Speed manual and a 5-speed AMT producing 7 more horsepower than the previous naturally aspirated engine. The DualJet petrol engine also powers Baleno and Dzire but since Swift is lighter in weight so definitely it will have a better 0-100 Kmph acceleration. It also has got some segment above safety features like ESP with Hill Hold Assist, reverse parking sensors with camera, etc.
The 2021 Swift facelift will go up against the Hyundai i10 Nios, Ford Figo, Volkswagen Polo, and the Tata Tiago.
