It’s a great time for McLaren fans, as after waiting for so long, the brand has now officially confirmed that it's coming to India. The British sports car brand had its presence in the nation only through imports, however, now McLaren will officially be making its presence felt in the Indian market, as they are partnering with Infinity Group as their dealer and official after-sales support.
The launch of the brand and the introduction of its lineup is about to happen very soon. As part of the India launch, the official configurator on the McLaren website has also started to show India as a region for purchase. This means that the Indian customers will now be able to customize and book a car sitting at home. The customers can submit their purchase order online and a nearby dealer will send the customized specs and order the vehicle from McLaren's Production Centre in Woking, UK.
At the time of launch, McLaren might offer these models in the country:
McLaren GT
The GT will be the entry point into the McLaren line-up, as it will be a road-focused car aimed at those, who want a comfortable everyday cruiser. This mid-engined supercar gets a 4-litre, twin-turbo engine that makes 620 HP and 630 Nm of peak torque. These specs translate to extreme performance, this means that 0-100kph comes up in just 3.2 seconds, while the top speed is around 326kph.
McLaren 720S
The McLaren 720S will be offered in both coupe and spider form. With this, McLaren is planning to take the competition to the Lamborgini Huracan and the Ferrari F8 Tributo. The 720S is also powered by a 4-litre twin-turbo engine, but this engine is tweaked to put out 720 HP and 770 Nm of peak torque in both the coupe and the spider. Both these cars get from 0-100kph in just 2.9-seconds and are able to achieve a top speed of about 341kph. As an additional bonus, the spider’s convertible roof takes just 11-seconds to fold up or fold down and can be operated at speeds of up to 50kmph.
McLaren Artura
Along with the Mclaren GT, 720S coupe and 720S spider, McLaren will also bring the Artura to India. This car is based on the MCLA carbon-fibre monocoque platform, which is different from the Carbon fibre Monocage II-S platform, on which both the GT and the 720S are based on. The main reason that Artura is based on a different platform is because of its hybrid powertrain. This means the Artura gets a smaller 3-litre, twin-turbo, V6 engine that is mated to an electric motor that helps produce a total output of 680hp, in with the engine produces 585hp while the electric motor adds the rest. Total torque is rated at 720Nmm which means 0-100kph is just around 3-seconds while the top speed is about 330kph. In the electric-only mode, the Artura has a range of about 30 kilometres and a top speed of 130 kmph.
