New Fiat Project 363 SUV To Be Called Pulse

Fiat has officially announced that their all-new SUV will be called the Pulse. Fiat recently gives the option to the customers to choose a name for their new SUV through online voting. The Fiat Pulse will go on sale first in South America in October this year and will follow a global launch in emerging markets later. Plans to launch in India is still unknown.

The new Fiat Pulse, previously known as Project 363 is built upon a new modular platform, known internally as MLA. With this new platform, Fiat is aiming to get a higher ranking in the LATIN NCAP crash tests and to meet the ROTA 2030 standards, assuring better safety.

The new Fiat Pulse SUV features wide headlamps and a wide grille that has the big Fiat logo at the front. The bumper carries two triangular-shaped fog lamps at each end. The Higher variants will have a dual-tone paint scheme as an option. Looking at the rear, we could see stylish tail lamps, a sculpted tailgate, and a prominent bumper with a dual-exhaust setup.

Under the hood, the new Fiat SUV carries a 1.0-liter direct-injection turbo-petrol engine that produces 128hp of power. This engine will be coupled with an Aisin-sourced CVT gearbox. Along with this, there will be also a 1.3-liter turbo-petrol engine variant, the same one that powers the South American-spec Jeep Compass. Customers will be even able to choose a 109hp, 1.3-litre, naturally aspirated petrol engine on the base variants.

The new Fiat Pulse will compete against the Honda WR-V and the Volkswagen Nivus SUVs. Along with this, The Fiat Pulse will also rival lower variants of the Jeep Renegade, Hyundai Creta, and the Volkswagen T-Cross.

As of now, we don’t know if the Fiat Pulse will make its way to India or not. If it ever comes, it will be also interesting if Fiat will give Indian consumers an option to name their new SUV. Do keep in mind that Fiat's parent company Stellantis is currently focusing on the Jeep brand for India, along with the new entrant Citroen. So a new Fiat is most unlikely to happen.
