New-Gen Skoda Octavia To Be Launched In India On June 10

The fourth-gen Skoda Octavia will be launched in India on June 10, 2021. It is built on the updated MQB platform. The new executive sedan is larger and will be offered with only a petrol engine. Market launch for the new Octavia was planned for April this year but it was postponed multiple times due to the pandemic.

Skoda changed its quad headlamp design of the third-gen Octavia with their new sedan. The new Octavia has a closer resemblance to the Superb with a similar design featuring conventional headlamps flanking the trademark grille and clean lines. The new Octavia will have a single petrol engine – a 190hp, 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine. There is no diesel variant due to the new strict BS6 norms. A 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox will also be offered.

Inside, the cabin is expected to be almost the same as other new-gen Skoda’s on sale in international markets with a touchscreen sitting atop the centre console on a shelf-like panel. The Octavia, like the recently revealed Kushaq and the updated Superb, will also get the two-spoke steering wheel as standard.

The new Octavia will go up against the Hyundai Elantra in the mid-size luxury sedan segment. Apart from this, Skoda is also expected to reveal a new C-segment mid-size sedan by the end of this year to replace the Rapid. Skoda is also gearing up to launch the Kushaq mid-size SUV in India this month. Watch this space for more updates!
