NHAI Introduces New Guidelines To Reduce Waiting Time At Toll Plazas

The National Highway Authority of India introduces new guidelines to finally put an end to the frustratingly long waiting periods at toll plazas. With these new guidelines, NHAI is looking forward to a much better travel experience for the people in the nation.

The NHAI has issued new guidelines to stop the long frustrating waiting time at toll plazas. These guidelines will be spread across the entire national Highway network in the country. According to the guidelines, toll plaza operators should ensure that the service time for each car should not be more than 10 seconds. These guidelines save the precious time of the commuters and thereby ensure a smooth experience at the toll centres.

Along with this, NHAI has also instructed the toll plazas to paint a yellow line. This line should be 100 meters away from each lane. This line will be used as a threshold point and when the queue crosses the line, the cars ahead can pass without paying a toll until the queue comes under the yellow line.

NHAI is looking forward to reducing the waiting times, and to instill a sense of accountability in the operators. NHAI also shared details regarding the adoption rate of FAStag in the nation according to the official sources, people are considering FASTag as a means to pay tolls. And FASTag penetration in NHAI toll plazas has reached 96 per cent. The increased usage of FASTag is also because of the reason for the government pressuring people to adopt to FASTag, instead of the ordinary ways of payment. Along with this, NHAI is working on developing the upcoming toll plazas with a new design that'll help to handle the increase in traffic over the next 10 years.
