Refreshed Kia Sonet Launched At INR 6.79 Lakh

Along with the launch of the 2021 Seltos, Kia has also launched the refreshed Sonet, one of their most successful products in India. Since the Seltos is priced just shy of INR 10 Lakhs, the Sonet is the more affordable SUV by the Korean manufacturer. The Sonet now gets some pretty good features and updates, including a new logo and some additional features for the lower trims.

The biggest change is the addition of two new variants, the HTX 1.0-litre turbo-petrol automatic and the HTX turbo-diesel automatic. These variants will now also get paddle shifters and multiple Drive Modes. The top HTX+ and GTX+ trims also get a first-in-segment in-built rear door sunshade curtain. The even lower, HTK+ trim will also get keyless entry, push-button start-stop and remote engine on/off for the turbo-petrol and diesel engine options. On the other hand, all the iMT variants will get a sunroof, and all the 1.2-litre petrol variants will now get keyless entry as standard.

As far as safety goes, the new Sonet also comes with Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), brake assist, and Hill Assist Control (HAC). These features will also be available to the lower variants. The new HTX variants will now get features like remote engine start/stop, chrome door handles and 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. Just like its elder brother, Kia hasn’t made many changes to what’s under the hood, and the overall changes are reflected only in the features and two new trims.

This new 2021 Kia Sonet will continue to go up against the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon, Honda WRV, Hyundai Venue and the Toyota UrbanCruiser in the compact SUV segment. Prices for the Sonet start from INR 6.79 Lakh (ex-showroom, India) for the base variant and go all the way up to INR 13.25 Lakh (ex-showroom, India) for the fully-loaded top-spec variant.
