Renault 5 Prototype EV Unveiled

Renault revealed their all-new Renault 5 Prototype. With the prototype, Renault has showcased the design and tech features that will be making their way to the upcoming premium electric hatchbacks from Renault. The Renault 5 prototype EV will enter into production by 2024. This upcoming hatchback will be based on Renault’s new CMF-BEV platform for small electric cars.

The Renault 5 Prototype has styling and design cues from the original Renault 5. It still has the front headlights from the original model. The position where the radiator grill was situated in the original Renault 5 now has EV charging port.

This upcoming EV is one of the 14 new models which the French firm is planning to launch by 2025. This will include seven fully electric vehicles. These vehicles will be also having the new version of the Renault 4 hatchback, called the 4ever.

The firm has confirmed that the production-spec 5 will use the all-new powertrain technology and nickel, manganese, and cobalt-based (NCM) batteries. Renault claims that it will help to dramatically reduce the cost per kWh by the time of 2030.

Renault also said that the 5 will have a total range of around 400km. We still have to wait for a bit more to know more about the upcoming Renault 5 as they still haven’t given the full technical specifications of the concept.

As of the India launch, Renault offers four models in the market. This includes the Kwid hatchback, Kiger compact SUV, Duster midsize SUV, and the Triber MPV. We need to wait a bit more to know if this upcoming EV from Renault will be launching in India.
