REVIEW: MotoTrailers' Universal Motorcycle Rear Paddock Stand

As we all know, the Covid-19 pandemic has affected our lives and our daily routine. This also applies to our vehicles, as we don’t get to use our 4-wheelers or 2-wheelers much due to the travel restrictions of the lockdown. However, it is our duty to take good care of our machines and look after them, as their parts/performance may be affected by being parked for weeks at a stretch.

Bike maintenance is one of the most important aspects of owning a bike, as they are made for the daily commute and are meant to take a lot of beating when compared to 4-wheelers. The one bike-maintenance accessory all motorcycle owners should have is a proper Paddock Stand, as it acts as an assist while conducting repairs and routine check-ups of your bike. This is where the MotoTrailers’ Paddock Stand comes in handy.

What is a Motorcycle Paddock Stand?

A Motorcycle Paddock Stand is a quintessential accessory for your motorcycle, especially if it doesn’t have a conventional centre stand. It helps raise one wheel off the ground and hold the bike up vertically, making it easy to clean, repair or check.

MotoTrailers’ Universal Rear Paddock Stand

We recently got our hands on MotoTrailers’ Universal Rear Paddock Stand, and as we had an Apache RTR 200 in our garage, we decided to mount it on the stand for its routine maintenance. Here’s how it went:

  • We first placed the bike on an even surface in the parking garage.

  • Then we brought in the paddock stand and fitted the fork mounts using the tightening screws.

  • The lightweight tubular metal frame of the stand was a boon, as it was pretty easy to slide it under the bike and lift it up.

  • Once the bike was up on the stand, we then started our basic maintenance check-up.

  • After the check-up, the bike turned out to be in good condition, but the chain needed to be lubricated.

  • So, we started the engine and put the bike in first gear and sprayed the lubricant on the chain. (Have a look at the video below)

Verdict

During the whole process, the stand was very stable and the plastic pads at the edges of the frame gave it more than enough grip to hold the 150 kg bike in place. The heavy-duty plastic wheels were robust enough to move the bike around on flat surfaces, while the powder-coated matte-black finish not only protected the stand from corrosion but also gave it a premium look.

Why should you get it?

  • To prevent flat spots on your tyres, which can be caused by being parked for weeks at a stretch.

  • Easy Maintenance like changing a tire, tightening the chain, servicing the brakes, changing the oil, etc.

  • Use it at the track. (if you like to take your bike racing on weekends)

What’s included in the package?

Apart from the main metal tube frame, you will get a pair of adjustable rubber-padded swing-arm rests, a pair of fork mounts and a pair of tightening screws. Both of these mounts can be easily fitted and removed from the tubular metal frame, thanks to the spring-locking mechanism on the swing-arm rests and the tightening screws for the fork mounts. The high-quality plastic wheels will come pre-fitted on the metal frame and won’t require any extra assembly. If the Black colour isn't sporty enough for you, then you'll be glad to know that this paddock stand is also available in Red.

What is the price?
