Rimac Nevera: Meet The World's Quickest Production Car Ever

Yesterday, Rimac launched the world's quickest production vehicle - the Nevera. This new all-electric, 2-seater Hypercar is the production-ready version of the C_Two Concept and it costs over 2 million Euros. The Nevera will be an ultra-exclusive offering as it is limited to just 150 units worldwide. Founder and CEO, Mate Rimac will be testing and signing off each of the Neveras before they are delivered to the customer from the company’s current production site on the outskirts of Zagreb, Croatia.

In terms of design, the Nevera is one of the most beautiful all-electric Hypercars out there, thanks to various design inspirations from other supercar brands. However, the Rimac Nevera's design and been optimised to make it even more aerodynamic, to improve stability at speeds of up to 400+ kmph. Further on, the car also gets various active aero elements like the front bonnet profile, front underbody flap, rear diffuser and rear wing, all of which combine to increase the overall downforce. In low-drag mode, the car can further reduce the drag coefficient by almost 0.3.

Mechanically speaking, the Nevera has instant torque thanks to its all-electric powertrain. The 4 independent, surface-mounted, permanent-magnet electric motors produce a total of 1,904 HP and a massive 2,360 Nm of peak torque, which when mated to 4 single-speed gearboxes (one on each wheel) propel this car from 0-100 km/hr in just 1.85 seconds and 0-300 km/hr in just 9.3 seconds. The top speed of the Nevera is 412 km/hr, which makes it faster than the Bugatti Veyron. The massive 120 kWh battery pack gives this Hypercar a sufficiently good range of around 550 kilometres.

Apart from all the Hypercar specifications, the Nevera also gets ADAS (Advanced Driver Assitance Systems) which include hardware like 13 cameras, 6 radars and 12 ultrasonic sensors. The car runs on Michelin's Pilot Sport 4S tyres which provide all the grip needed for outstanding performance both on and off the track. Despite using many carbon-fibre elements in the structure of the car, the Nevera still weighs in at 2,150 kilograms because of the massive battery pack.

“This is it. This is the car I had in mind when I embarked on the ‘impossible’ journey ten years ago. All our hard work has resulted in the Nevera – our record-breaking hypercar. This car was born to outperform, and to raise the bar, redefining the norm for performance cars. And not only in performance – but as an all-around package. When we first revealed the C_Two, we set our targets extremely high. There was nothing else that could even come close to matching the car’s cutting-edge electric powertrain and extreme performance. But for us, that was only the starting point,” explains Mate Rimac, Founder and CEO of Rimac Automobili.

“Everyone at Rimac is driven by curiosity and a desire to push things to the absolute limit. With its combination of everyday use and 1914hp performance, the Nevera proves what is possible when there are no restraints placed on technology, development, or ambition. We have now unveiled a car that pushes the hypercar market to a higher level, we have utilized the full potential of the electric powertrain today, proving what we’ve always been saying – that electric hypercar, in the form of the Nevera, is beyond exciting, and that is as thrilling on the track, as it is cosseting crossing continents. We will be making just 150 examples of the Nevera, every single unit crafted in Croatia from passion and admiration for cars.”

“Since the 17th Century, the necktie has provided a symbol of Croatian strength and identity, and we first paid tribute to it on our Concept_One hypercar in 2011,” reveals Rimac Director of Design, Adriano Mudri ‘And, like every element of the car’s design, it is there to provide a key function of the Nevera’s performance, serving as an air intake for the rear cooling systems.”

“Our torque-vectoring enables a new level of drivetrain calibration,” explains Miroslav Zrnčević, Rimac Test and Development Driver, and depending on the driving mode selected, the R-AWTV 2 technology can enable the Nevera to be drifted sideways or provide optimum levels of all-wheel-drive grip, traction and safety – no matter how challenging the road and weather conditions. Thanks to a four-individual-motor drivetrain, the driver can also change the torque distribution, and personalize the performance delivery even further, for a completely bespoke drive – ranging from front to rear-wheel drive biased car.”
