New Skoda Kushaq Pictures Leaked Ahead Of Launch

Skoda will soon launch their mid-size SUV in India, but we have the leaked images before the official images showing the Skoda Kushaq in all its glory. This will be their first product under the INDIA 2.0 strategy with a launch slated around the second half of June and deliveries expected to start from July.

Looking at the non-camouflage images of the Kushaq, we see a design inspired by the Vision IN Concept showcased at the Auto Expo 2020. This design carries the butterfly grille that sits between the sleek headlamps accompanied by LED projector units and LED Daytime Running Lamps. The fog lamps are now placed right below the headlamp and are now halogen units.

From the side, it has a crossover stance rather than having the full SUV design elements. There is a Skoda badging on the front fender and on the chrome belt. We could also see roof rails but it seems to be only for cosmetic purposes. At the rear, we could see the LED tail lamp, similar to the new-gen Octavia. The Kushaq has a wheelbase of 2,651 mm.

This mid-size SUV has been designed specifically for the Indian market with a localization rate of over 95 per cent. And is planning to price very aggressively.

The Kushaq will be powered by either a 1.0-litre TSI that gives an output of 115 PS and 175 Nm or with a 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine with an output of 150 PS and 250 Nm. Both the engines will be powered by a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. As for the automatic variant, The 1.0-liter TSI will get a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox and the 1.5-litre TSI will get a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

With the expected price range starting from Rs 10 lakhs and that will go all the way up to Rs. 18 lakhs ex-showroom, the Kushaq is expected to compete against the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross, Nissan Kicks, Renault Duster, Hyundai Creta, and even against its Volkswagen sibling, the upcoming Taigun.
