After the launch of Mercedes V-class in India, Toyota is set to bring its luxurious MPV called the Vellfire in the current fiscal year.
The Innova was said to be the throne of the MPV segment, soon later the Morrazzo started giving it a solid competition in this segment but here is something very luxurious in this segment, which is way more expensive and filled with every inch of convenience and luxury in it. The none other than the Toyota Vellfire which is expected to launch sometime in the current fiscal year, but we already have another luxurious MPV that competes with the Toyota Vellfire already and that is the Mercedes Benz V-class. The two respectively stand out and are incomparable with any other cars in this segment, surprisingly the question even arises that for whom are these true pieces of luxury for. These cars are particularly for Business people, who travel in suits and can have their meetings right in the car itself, this car isn’t for going on road trips it is focused on luxury.
The first thing we bring it to your focus is the massive price difference, as the sources say the Toyota Vellfire will cost around INR 1.10 Cr ( on-road) and the existing Mercedes V-class with its entry variant for 8.85 Lakh (on-road) and the Exclusive LWB variant goes up to 96.95 Lakh (on-road). However, both cars supposed to threaten each other but in the Indian market, not many buyers are focused to pay a hefty amount in this segment.
The Toyota Vellfire carries a bold and aggressive chrome face with twin LED headlamps with sequential turn signals, this MPV by its first glance looks rugged and masculine ready to take over the streets of Indian cities; on the other hand we have the Mercedes Benz V-class comes with a detail of bold functions along the front bonnet which is somewhat similar to what we see in company’s high-end sedans the E and S class. The headlamps are pretty similar to the S class with an impressive LED intelligent light system. If we look at the length, width and height of both these cars then the V-class is 435mm longer, 78mm wider than the Vellfire whereas the Toyota Vellfire is 15mm taller than the Mercedes V-class.
Into the cockpit, the Vellfire features recline captain seats with luxury and flexibility, which is somewhat the same as in the V-class with 4 rear seats and a total up to 7 seats which can be easily removed and can be changed in the orientation. Everything is electrically adjusted from seats to the doors. Even on the rear end, they have provided with AC vents and AC controls in both the cars, if we look into closely the Toyota Vellfire provides a dual sunroof, one which is in the greater cockpit and the bigger one in the rear. Both the cars have an ample amount of legroom and boot space, the V-class uniquely adds on a separately opening rear window to access the boot space.
Under the hood, the Toyota Vellfire features a 2,494 cc In-line, 16V DOHC with Dual VVT-i engine with a max output of 134 kW with 6000rpm and a torque of 235 Nm per 1400 rpm.
Inside the V-class a 2,143 cc 4 Cylinders Inline, 4 Valves/Cylinder, DOHC, diesel engine with a maximum power of 160 bhp/3800 rpm and maximum torque of 380 Nm @ 1600 rpm; which sits on a 7-speed automatic transmission with dual-clutch, paddle shift and a dedicated sports mode.
Regarding safety, the Mercedes Benz V-class offers 6 airbags Driver Front passenger, Thorax-pelvis side bag-driver, Thorax-pelvis side bag-co-driver, and Curtain Airbags. Moreover, it features an anticipatory occupant protection system called the PRE-SAFE additionally it has 360-degree parking assist to it. On the other hand, the Toyota Vellfire has standard ABS EBD with Traction control which standard in both the cars but here in Toyota Vellfire it provides a total of 7 airbags (Driver, Front Passenger, Side, Curtain & Driver's Knee) with some exclusive features such as the blind spot monitor and ISOFIX.
